Ingredients
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
1 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 square(1 oz) unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/4 cup butter/marg melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 recipe frosting
Procedure
For Bottom Layer:
Sift together 1/2 cup flour, soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; combine with oats and brown sugar. Stir in 1/2 cup melted butter. Pat mixture in bottom of 11 x 7 x 1.5" (a bread loaf pan) baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees oven for 10 min.
For Middle Layer:
Combine chocolate, 1/4 cup melted butter, and granulated sugar. Add egg; beat well. Sift together 2/3 cup flour, baking powder and 1/4 tsp salt; add alternately with milk and vanilla to chocolate mixture;fold in nuts. Spread batter ober baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min longer.
For Frosting:
Combine 1 square (1 oz) unsweetened chiclate and 2 tbsp butter in a small saucepan. Stir over low heat till chocolate melts. Remove from heat and add 1.5 cups icing sugar and 1 tsp vanilla. Blend in enopugh hot water( about 2 tbsp) to make almost pourable consisitency. Spread over cooled brownies. Top with walnut.
